"Experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first, and then the
lesson afterwards."
-- Vernon Sanders Law
Not so fast.
You don't want to play against our online poker apes, or any other good online
poker players, without knowing what you're getting into.
Now, let's be clear. At Primate Poker, we want all of your online poker cash.
ALL of it. But not without a fight. Our apes will have little respect for you
(and even less
respect
for
themselves) if
you make it simple for us to take your money online.
At Primate Poker, we have learned that poker is a game that rewards effort,
reasoned thinking, and rational behavior. A good winning poker
player can
be successful at anything he or she pursues.
Poker punishes irrationality,
mental laziness, and flawed beliefs, such as belief in luck. Poker,
in fact, demands the very best you've got. Period. It is arguable that poker
is the ultimate
test of
your
true character. Poker IS the world's GREATEST game. Bar none.
You'll see. If you are new to poker, you might consider the following
next steps:
0.
Apply yourself. Don't be a victim of lazy thinking. Don't
pretend you have to be lucky to be successful at this. What you do next really
does matter. This is perhaps poker's greatest lesson for the winning player.
Understand the Inner Game of Poker.
Learn about the Primate Poker Online Software
Tools.
1. Learn everything
you can about the game in advance. Spend money liberally doing that.
Purchase the
right
books
and
study
them. Carefully and completely. Make a commitment in this regard.
2. Realize that poker is a game of skill with a wide standard
deviation (variance in results). Expect wide swings in your results. If can't
handle poker's wide swings, pursue some other game. Studies have shown that
you can be playing correctly for over 3000 hours and still be a net loser in
poker. Still eager to jump in?
3. Apply what you learn cautiously when you first get online.
Stick to low stakes until you get some traction, and set some very definite
limits. For example, limit your
losses per session to some reasonable limit, such as 30 big blind bets. Be
disciplined. Track your results. Study your results, the good and especially
the bad.
4. Make the move to higher stakes very thoughtfully. Anyone
that has played for any length of time with success knows the score on this.
Once you make that move up, you do not want to have to turn it back down.
Poker
is a great test of character. Don't say we didn't warn you. We encourage
you to study the game, and do your best.
You'll need to, because our online Primate Poker apes see you coming.
Sincerely,
Dr. Norman McAuliffe
